Summer Lip Colours: What I Want To Wear This Summer

As the summer months have arrived, I thought I would write another post about what beauty products I am going to wear during the summer months. I had previously done a summer nail polishes post a few years ago and that has not really changed much so instead I thought I would write about what lip colours I want to wear this summer. Bright lip colours are in my opinion synonymous with summer. It matches the mood of the weather (hopefully!) and I think helps everyone look super glamourous and ready for summer.  The bright lip colours that I tend to reach for even more in the summer are reds, pinks and corals. Now they are all similar in terms of the colour wheel but I do think they all add a little something different.

Reds

M.A.C Ruby Woo Lipstick
The ultimate classic red. I think once you own Ruby Woo, you will completely understand why it is such a cult lipstick. Red will always be a classic lipstick colour all year round but I feel like in the summer, a red lipstick can take your overall look further, even if you have gone pretty light in the makeup or clothes when the weather starts to get extremely hot. Ruby Woo also has one of the best staying powers of all the matte lipsticks that I have ever owned. I also think that is a perfect shade of red for so many skin-tones.

L'Oreal Paris Color Riche Lipstick in Julianne's Red
This is the brightest red lip colour that I have ever owned. You know you are wearing lipstick with this shade! I also think that this is a shade of red that you could pull of in the day and the night. I can't wait to wear this when I have a tan as I think it will compliment my skin-tone when I am tanned and stand out even more. I don't think they still make this particular shade in the celebrity designed Color Riche lipstick which is a shame because I think it is a stunning lip colour. I will admit that I haven't worn this lipstick as much as others but I really want to get some use of it this summer.

Pinks

Topshop Lipstick in All About Me
Pink as a colour is slowly growing on me in my fashion style but I definitely prefer pink in lipsticks. I fell in love with this lipstick and I have been wearing it every summer since. This is my favourite shade of pink lipstick to wear as it is nice and bright but is still a little on the red side so it doesn't look too 'Barbie' on me. The Topshop matte formulas are great for people who still want a bold matte colour but do not like the feeling of matte formulas on the lips.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Olé Flamingo!
To be honest, this is basically a liquid formula of the Topshop lipstick. I used to wear this all the time on nights out at university because I knew that it would stay on the entire night. Now I would only recommend this lip products if you can handle dry matte formulas, if you don't like them, I would stay clear. I do think that this also has a nice sized brush as I find with liquid lipsticks, the shape of the brush can make and break them.

Corals

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Unapologetic
I was absolutely obsessed with these matte balms when they first came out and I'm pretty sure that I ended up buying every single one.. Out of the two pink-toned shades, I would often go for this more coral pink more than the other. The matte balms are a very quick way to get a matte lip colour and I think these are especially great to use when it gets hot as it means you can finish your makeup really quickly. My room gets really warm in the summer so I like to do my makeup as quickly as possible so I can get out into a cooler place. Sometimes, I find my room can get hotter than the weather outside.

Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer in Poppy Pop
I also succumbed to the hype with these lipsticks when they came out as well. This is the only lip colour in the post that does not have a proper matte finish. It is more of a red-based coral so I think it could be great for when I want to have a reddish lip but I don't want to have a full-on red lip. I think this is also a great one to wear during the day as I don't feel like it is too bold and out there and I think would compliment a lot of summer outfits.

I would love to know what lip colours you plan on wearing this summer, do you embrace the bold and bright shades or do you prefer to stick with the nudes? Also if there are any summer related beauty or skincare posts that you would like to see then please let me know in the comments!
